The EURIPIDES Forum which traditionally attracted a great number of the best MEMS experts and high-level speakers has been the occasion to express interest in prospective R&D projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life and increasing investments. The EURIPIDES Forum highlighted innovative projects and new trends in various application fields such as health, energy and telecommunications.
Russian MEMS Association concerned with the acceleration of development and implementation of high technologies in Russia participated actively in the event.
On the 1st day of EURIPIDES 2011 Conference Denis Urmanov, the executive director of RAMEMS, made a presentation in which he highlighted the specifics of domestic MEMS industry, its problems, challenges and development perspectives. The modern tendency is that strengthening of Russian microsystems industry has become a part and parcel of the evolutionary development of the economy of the state. Today, a number of governmental programs on support of Russian enterprises, designers and manufacturers of the devices based on microelectromechanical systems are being fullfilled. However, the rule of thumb is that the industry forms successfully when Russian experts cooperate with their foreign colleagues. Thus, the Association has a good reason to accomplish the mission of assisting foreign and Russian experts to pool the expertise in the field of MEMS development and manufacture.
The main discussion subject on the 2d day of EURIPIDES 2011 Conference was also technologies of the future and their application. Invited by EURIPIDES 2011 organizers, the Association is proud to have chaired ‘Sensing Solutions’ Conference section. It is worth mentioning that it was the first time in the history of EURIPIDES forums that the chairman of the section was invited from Russia which demonstrates the recognition of an important role of RAMEMS in the development of the international cooperation in the field of MEMS by the European community.
During the visit to Finland, the representatives of Russian MEMS Association and their partners also attended two leading MEMS designers and manufacturers in Finland.
Thus, the Association held negotiations with the management of VTT, Technical Research Centre of Finland, the biggest multitechnological applied research organization in Northern Europe which since 1942 has been providing high-end technology solutions, innovation services and creating business intelligence.
Also, RAMEMS delegation had a meeting with the representatives of VTI Technologies Oy, a famous Finnish company, that innovates, designs and manufactures MEMS solutions for such application areas as automotive, medical, industrial and consumer electronics, consequently improving the quality of our life.
The Association established partnership relations with the companies and made agreements on implementation of the common projects in the future.
